Her Majesty The Queen

I was privileged to serve under Britain’s most enduring and finest monarch, for whom service and duty were above all else.

Her Majesty set an example to us of dedication, honour and integrity that is unmatched in public life. She earned her subjects’ devotion, loyalty and deep respect, sentiments reflected around the world. May she rest in peace.

His Majesty King Charles III former Colenel in Chief of the Parachute Regiment, now becomes Commander in Chief to those who still serve- God save the King.

Catherine 'Chooses' a Speedy Recovery.

“The wonderful thing about a hip operation is that you know when it is going to happen. And, therefore, you can plan/prepare around it...,”

In 2007 when, following an unfortunate accident, Catherine Baudino found herself facing a left hip replacement surgery. Eight years later Catherine’s right hip needed to be replaced as well. At this point Catherine took matters into her own hands. Having worked hard before her first operation, using Pilates as a pre-operation preparation, Catherine understood the importance of exercise for a healthy and speedy recovery.

Understanding that for many a hip operation indicated the sign of ageing, Catherine was determined to prove that, no matter what your age, recovery was an option for those who were prepared to work for it. “Whatever your age, or circumstance, there is no need for trepidation, nor do you need to be a fitness fanatic to have a speedy recovery”, says Catherine.

catherine

Fitness is not the only contribution required in preparation for a speedy and successful recovery. Catherine says "determination and self discipline appears to be equally as important when dealing with obstacles of physical and mental pain". She admits, “I was ruthless with myself and absolutely determined to be as prepared as possible for my recover, regardless of pain and discomfort”. However, her real obstacle was not her body but rather her mindset. Catherine practices ‘Reality Therapy’ and soon realised she had choices when it came to her mental behaviour, and opted for a positive attitude, coupled with as much exercise as her body would allow.

Reality Therapy & The Care Leaver Progression Partnership

The Care Leaver Progression Partnership (CLPP) held their annual conference in June 2015 at Kent University for the benefit of it's partner organisations (further and higher education institutions, training providers, advice services, and local authority teams). Each year, they consider a particular aspect of supporting young people in/ or with a background of care from a local authority.

This year they have chosen to focus the day on supporting the mental health and well-being needs of these students; with a particular emphasis on practical solutions that student support staff can employ to better recognise and assist young people demonstrating mental health or wellbeing concerns. Adrian was invited to run a workshop on Choice Theory & Reality Therapy.

Workshop Ended

Dispite the disruption in having to move the workshop to a new venue, it was successful 2 days. Claridge House staff were very helpful, and made the experience relaxed and enjoyable. The nice weather was a bonus and we were able to sit and do some work outside in the gardens.

The new venue is now Claridge House in Lingfield, Surrey, and if it all works out well, may be our venue for future workshops

Choice Theory & Reality Therapy

We subscribe to the 'ethos' that Choice Theory, Reality Therapy and Lead Management guide and support our relationships both on a personal and professional basis, and that Reality Therapy should be taught with integrity and adherence to fundamental concepts as describe by Dr. William Glasser and others who write, teach those ideas.
